Terms of service
The plain-language agreement between you and Stooplight. By signing up or making a purchase, you're agreeing to these terms.
What Stooplight is
Stooplight builds and hosts a website for your business on a month-to-month subscription. We keep the service running with reasonable care, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted uptime, and features may improve or change over time.
Your account
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials and dashboard passwords safe, and for what happens under your account. Give us accurate contact information so we can reach you about billing and your site.
Your content
Everything you put on your site — your text, images, branding, and business information — stays yours. You give us permission to host and display it, which is what makes your site work. You're responsible for having the rights to what you publish. If we receive a credible complaint that something on your site infringes someone's copyright or other rights, we may remove that specific content and will let you know — you can respond through support.
Acceptable use
Don't use your site for anything illegal, deceptive, or harmful — no scams, malware, harassment, infringement of others' rights, or content that misrepresents who you are. Don't use it to send unsolicited email or messages. Your site runs on reputable infrastructure providers — Netlify for hosting, Stripe for payments, Resend for email — and your use of your site has to comply with their policies too. We can remove specific content, or suspend or terminate sites, that cross these lines.
Payments and cancellation
Subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe with no setup fee and no contract. Cancelling stops future charges; how billing, cancellation, and refunds work is spelled out in our refund policy, which is part of these terms.
Software license
Stooplight is a subscription service. Your subscription gives you the right to use your site and its dashboard for your own business while it's active. The underlying template engine, code, and software remain Stooplight's intellectual property — your content and branding remain yours, entirely. Your site's code isn't offered for sale, and you can't copy, resell, redistribute, or offer it (or derivatives of it) as a product or service to others.
If things go wrong
Stooplight is provided "as is." To the fullest extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect damages or lost profits, and our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability where the law doesn't allow it to be limited.
Ending things
You can cancel anytime (see the refund policy for what happens when you do). We can suspend or end service for violations of these terms, and we'll tell you why if we do.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, the changes apply going forward. We'll post the updated version here with a new effective date, and material changes will be flagged to active subscribers.
